Connections from Felix

Christmas is the celebration of the Prince of Peace who appeared when a powerful nation thought peace could be achieved by through the conquest and control of the world. But the story of Christmas shows that ultimate power poured into the world through the most unlikely characters: a young-unwed-pregnant teenager and outcast field workers. God's glory was revealed through our powerlessness. A group of simple men and probably some women and children, too, awoke in the middle of the night to a strange message: "Do not be afraid.  Tonight we begin a new kingdom.  Tonight all your hopes and expectations will be fulfilled. Tonight begins a new journey.

Christmas is the time for looking into the manger and seeing in the face of the child God's great love embracing all of us, inviting us to let go and be healed, to recover the generous heart, and to step out on Christmas morning with a new mission in our life.

I pray for each one of you the gift of love this Christmas. I pray you will awaken Christmas morning with a new sense of hope and peace, that you will receive into your heart such unspeakable joy that you will first kneel in thanksgiving and the rise up to sing and dance and pour out an extra measure of love to those around you.

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord."
