Reserve the Date, March 5, 2011: Church Vitality Event for Church Council/Board Members

 

The Conference staff, in collaboration with the Church Vitality Team and the Conference Board of Directors is proud to announce the 2011 Vitality Event for Church Council/Board Members. This event is scheduled for Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Glendale. All Church Council/Board members are invited to attend. We will be discussing issues related to:
 Council/Board work and responsibilities
 Church financials
 How to conduct meetings
 Thinking strategically
 Church Safety
 Building and Maintenance Issues
 Insurance Issues
 Impacting the world
 -And much more...


We have assembled a panel of experts including representatives from the Insurance Board, The Cornerstone Fund, United Church Funds, our Conference Attorney and Treasurer. You will have the  opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.  The cost for the event will be $15 for the first individual and $10 for each additional person from the same church if registered at the same time. 2011 Synod Contest  This is all good I received the following announcement for Cleveland:
"Friends,

 

In the KYeP that will come out in a few minutes, there will be an announcement of a Synod contest. The idea is to invite local churches to submit an idea or vision that they "imagined" and then worked to make possible. It could be a mission project, a new worship service, a new way of working with youth,  something that challenged the congregation in a new way and then the congregation stepped out and worked for and they look back now and are both thankful and amazed that they pulled it off!!  You may all know of such stories  among your congregations. Well, the Program and Planning Committee knows these "good news" stories are out there and is  inviting churches to share them.. There will be a winning church from each region and the  pastor and a lay person from the six winners will be given an expense paid trip to General  Synod where they will be honored. My request to you today is that you  share the news of this contest with your  local churches in your electronic newsletters or however you communicate with your churches. This is an effort to not only highlight and encourage innovation and imagination but to also share good news and good ministry being done across the life of the church and to connect local churches to the Synod experience.
