About Fairview Community Church:
FCC is a lively, multi-generational congregation of spiritual seekers with a multitude of musical tastes and desires. We are a church that values openness and inclusion for all. A Music Director at FCC will need to represent these values and will need to build a music program that will become an integral part of our spiritual journey and is capable of evolving into a significant asset for church message, church participation, and church growth.
Position Summary:
The Music Director coordinates, participates in, and leads the overall music activities at FCC. In doing so, the Music Director will work with the Worship Committee and all interested parties, but will principally work with and report to the FCC pastor. The Music Director will plan and implement the church music program for Sunday worship services, special liturgies, and any and all special services the church may conduct throughout the year.
FCC hopes to support and work with our Music Director in such a way that he/she would become vested in our church and find a home as well. Individual special circumstances can be addressed on a case by case basis.
Our long term goal is to achieve an active, open musical community within the church.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build the FCC music program
- Create and organize a music community within FCC that becomes an integral part of the church message and growth
- Encourage and organize congregational participation for vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles
- Work with and, when necessary, direct FCC choral and instrumental ensembles (including practice sessions). A minimization of pre-recorded music is desired.
- Lead the congregation in both modern and traditional church music along with an array of socially relevant secular music of various styles
- Be able to work well with children for occasional group performances
- When appropriate, recruit talent from outside the church (hire guest artists), coordinating with talent from the congregation as applicable.
- Communicate with the Pastor on a regular basis to develop a unified purpose
- Coordinate music selection with the Pastor’s theological message and weekly worship themes
- Prepare a music program for all Sunday services as well as major holiday services (except for pre-scheduled vacations)
- Hire and prepare substitute directors/musicians when necessary with Pastor’s approval
- Submit all music selections/information/lyrics to the Church Admin Office in a timely manner for inclusion in the Sunday bulletin
- Attend periodic staff meetings with the Pastor, Worship Committee, Church Council along with any other pertinent meetings
- Be available for wedding and funerals for an additional prearranged fee
Qualifications:
- Trained musician by private study and/or college or university (Proficiency with multiple instruments a plus)
- Knowledgeable and accomplished in both traditional and modern church music as well as a large range of secular music
- Able to work with, coordinate, conduct and lead the congregation, church volunteers, musicians, vocalists, ensembles and guest artists
- Able to coordinate and work well with the Pastor and church committees
Hours: Part-Time
This job is salaried –range commensurate with experience: $12-20k

Irvine United Congregational Church, An Open and Affirming Just Peace Church seeks to fill the position of Youth & Young Adults Coordinator:
Position Summary
The Youth and Young Adults Coordinator (YYAC) works with: (1) IUCC’s youth (grades 4-12) and (2) young adults (ages 18-30). The YYAC’s primary responsibilities include: planning, promoting and leading programs for the junior and junior/senior high youth groups as well as teaching the senior high youth during Sunday school each week. Secondary responsibilities include: working with the Associate Pastor and volunteers on outreach to the 18-30 demographic by building programs/relationships/partnerships that would help attract this demographic to IUCC. The YYAC is responsible for building and sustaining IUCC’s youth and young adults-related social media presence. When the service is implemented, this position will be involved with a third worship service employing liturgical forms and worship practices that are attractive to youth, young adults and young families. This position reports to the Associate Pastor.
Compensation
This position pays $15/hour for no more than 12 hours per week for 48 weeks/year, unless authorized by the Associate Pastor. 4 weeks of unpaid vacation is authorized (one week each at Christmas and Spring Break and two weeks during the summer). Mileage for IUCC-related activities will be reimbursed at the church’s standard rate. This position could also be arranged as an internship or offering units as needed to meet educational/seminary requirements.
