Last week I had the privilege of attending the 48th
anniversary of the Retirement Housing Foundation (a UCC
health and human services organization) and one of the
staff told me this great news: some of their
residence craft groups want to provide all 500 bags for
the SCNC School Kit challenge!! Isn't that
awesome? So here's the deal: if you are
working on school kits and want these bags, please
contact
Chris Ragon at the Retirement Housing
Foundation to ask how and when you can get the
bags!
By the way, I was delighted to learn that 6
churches in the Central Association have challenged
themselves for a Lenten mission project to do 100 school
kits! That gets 1/5 of the way there!
HURRAH! At the end of this month I will attend a
Church World Service board meeting and look forward to
telling them of our project. I hope we go OVER the
goal! Don't forget: this makes a great Church
School project and a super children's time is to take
something like a 'pencil' and ask the kids how excited
they would be if that was the only gift they got for
Christmas or birthday. Then explain about kids in other
parts of the world who are as excited about school kits
as kids are about electronic games here.
Lenten blessings!
